First National Bank of Omaha is a subsidiary bank to First National of Nebraska. It commenced operation as a local bank to serve Omaha and its neighboring district’s in 1857. By 1953, First National Bank became one of the pioneer banks to issue their own credit card and received national charter in 1863. It was the first U.S Company to implement the use of Fuel Cells as a main power source. First National Bank is privately owned by the Lauritzen family who has a controlling interest. Today, it is the largest privately held bank holding company in the U.S. with $21 billion assets under management. It is divided into 8 business divisions namely: eBusiness, First National Credit Card Center, First National Merchant Solutions, Investment Banking, Retail Banking, Wealth Management and Consumer Lending. First National Bank currently operates in 35 states and has over 7,300 employees.
